I’m Toby Dobson, a British teacher. I’ve taught in Vietnam for more than seven years, from kindergarten to university. Now I teach students of my own, online: children, teenagers and adults.

Every lesson starts from where you are now, and I shape it to the student’s age and level. We can work through a textbook together, prepare for an exam, or practise what you find hardest.

Clearer pronunciation, quicker answers, and the confidence to speak up in class or at work. We work towards the moment you answer in English without translating in your head first. I correct mistakes as they happen, kindly and specifically.

Questions people ask
How much are lessons, and how do I pay?
Fees depend on what you need, and one to one differs from a small group, so I share them privately on Zalo. You pay month by month, never months in advance.
Is it hard to follow a native speaker?
I adjust my speed and language to each student. I’ve taught Vietnamese students for more than seven years, from young beginners to university.
Do you guarantee a score or a level?
No. No honest teacher can promise a score. What I can do is show you where you stand against the public criteria, and what we’re working on next.
One to one or a small group?
Either. One to one, or a small group if you learn well with a friend or colleague.
Do you teach adults?
Yes. I’ve taught university students in Hanoi, and adults can learn one to one or in a small group. Tell me what you’d like to work on.
Do you teach young children?
Yes. I’ve taught children from kindergarten age, and from 2020 to 2026 I taught Math, Science and IELTS at Đoàn Thị Điểm. Tell me about the learner and I’ll tell you honestly what I’d suggest.
